Contractor SEO in Kansas City, built for the map pack.

I'm John Alewine. I run Kansas City SEO Services from Kansas City, MO. I put Kansas City contractors on the Google map pack. That is the short list of listings people see on the map when they search for a plumber, roofer, or electrician near them.

The work starts with a free Map Pack Check. It is a five-minute screen recording of your listing next to the top three in your map area.

I take one contractor per trade per map area.

Why contractor calls start on Google Maps

A homeowner with a leak, a dead furnace, or a damaged roof does not want to read a blog post. They search, look at the map, and call someone on it. For a contractor, the Google listing behind that map is often the first thing a customer sees.

What the listing has to get right

  • Primary category. Set to your actual trade, not something close.
  • Service area. Most contractors drive to the job. The listing should show the area you really work, not a pin you never use.
  • Hours. True hours. Show after-hours only if someone answers.
  • Call button. It should ring your phone, not a lead mill.
  • Photos and posts. Real jobs, kept current.

When one of these is off, the Map Pack Check shows it next to the listings winning your area.

Pick your trade

Every trade gets the same rule: one contractor per trade per map area. Each row leads to the same free recorded check.

TradeWhy the calls come from MapsTrade pageNext step
PlumbersEmergency calls come from the map pack. Hours, service area, and a phone that actually rings.Plumber map pack SEOCheck plumber availability
HVACSeasonal spikes, year-round listing. HVAC shops lose the pack when photos and categories go stale in the off season.HVAC map pack SEOCheck HVAC availability
RoofersStorm season is won on Google. Roofing listings get claimed by lead mills, so I lock the profile and watch for hijacks.Roofer map pack SEOCheck roofer availability
ElectriciansService calls start on Maps. When the power is out, people search, see three listings, and call one.Electrician map pack SEOCheck electrician availability
Garage doorsRepair calls start on Maps. A snapped spring or stuck door means a search and a call, not browsing.Garage door map pack SEOCheck garage door availability

What I do on a contractor's listing

The product is the listing. See Map Pack for the full monthly service.

Google Business Profile

I work on your Google Business Profile:

  • Claim or recover the listing.
  • Set the primary and secondary categories.
  • Write the description.
  • List only the services you actually offer.
  • Load real job photos.
  • Set hours and service area.

Reviews

You get review request coaching and reply drafts. Steady reviews and real replies are part of a listing Google can trust.

Bing Places and local directories

I build a matching Bing Places listing. I also place you on the local directories that still feed Google, Apple, and GPS data. Your name, address, and phone stay the same everywhere.

Weekly upkeep on Map Pack

On the Map Pack plan you get:

  • Weekly Google posts.
  • Photo and Q&A upkeep.
  • Citation monitoring and cleanup.
  • Bing listing maintenance.
  • Monthly written notes on the listing.

What this isn't

This is not website SEO. I do not:

  • Rebuild sites.
  • Sell backlink packages.
  • Run blog mills.
  • Build a city page farm.

I do not promise a number one spot. Google decides placement. My job is to make your listing complete, accurate, and watched.

Google Ads is separate from these plans. If you want paid coverage too, see Google Ads.

One contractor per trade per map area

If I work with a roofer on your side of town, I will not take a second roofer there. The same rule holds for every trade. If your slot is taken, I tell you before you pay. No retainer starts until the slot for your trade is open.

This is also why the free check comes first. It shows me your area and your competitors before either of us commits.

  • Massage therapists
  • Life coaches

Flooring is the contractor trade on that list. The rest of the trades on this page are open categories.

Questions contractors ask first

How does contractor SEO work in Kansas City?

For most contractors, the calls start on Google Maps. I work the listing behind the map pack: categories, service area, hours, photos, posts, and reviews. I match your name and phone on Bing Places and core directories. Google still decides placement by relevance, distance, and prominence, so nobody can promise a spot.

What does contractor SEO cost with you?

It starts with a free Map Pack Check. Listing Fix is $795 one time and credits 100% to Map Pack if you start within 60 days. Map Pack is $1,150 per month with a 3-month minimum and the launch fee waived. Metro is $1,850 per month for the first location, $890 for each extra.

Will you work with another contractor in my trade near me?

No. I take one contractor per trade per map area. If I already work with a roofer, plumber, or electrician on your side of town, I tell you before you pay. No retainer starts until the slot for your trade is open.

Do I need a new website for contractor SEO?

No. I do not rebuild sites, chase backlinks, or run blog mills. The work is your Google Business Profile, Bing Places, and the local directories that still feed Google, Apple, and GPS data. The request form asks for a website only if you have one.

Which trades do you cover?

I have trade pages for plumbers, HVAC, roofers, electricians, and garage door companies, and I work on Google map pack visibility for flooring companies. If your trade is not listed, request the free check anyway and tell me what you do. I will tell you whether your category is open.

What is in the free Map Pack Check?

A five-minute screen recording of your Google listing next to the top three competitors in your map area. It shows what is winning the pack near you and gives a clear next step. No charge and no retainer required. Send your business name and city on the contact page or call (816) 608-8581.

More answers are on the FAQ.

Check your trade's availability

Tell me your business, your trade, and your city. I will record your listing against the top three in your trade near you and reply with a clear next step. If I already work with a competitor on your side of town, I will tell you before you pay.

I work across the metro: Kansas City, Overland Park, Lee's Summit, Independence, Olathe, and the rest. See areas.
