Ask every customer for a Google review, the right way

Reviews are one of the things AI assistants read about you, so ask every customer for an honest one, the right way.

AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity search the web and pull from what they find there. That includes your Google Business Profile, your reviews and your own website. So asking for reviews is part of getting found with AI.

Do it the right way

  1. Get your official review link and QR code from your Business Profile under Read reviews, then Get more reviews. Google says the QR code can only be made in a computer browser for now.
  2. Ask every customer, by name, right after the job.
  3. Use one channel plus one reminder, then stop.
  4. Reply to reviews, and never confirm private details in a reply.

What Google bans

No incentives for any review. No discouraging negative reviews. No asking only happy customers, which is called review gating.

A review in the customer's own words about the actual job gives anyone reading it, a person or an assistant, something specific. Do not script it or edit it. The words are theirs.

Reviews are one part of the picture. Nobody can promise what an assistant will say, and I will not.
