Write a clear Google Business Profile description
Your Google Business Profile description is plain text you write yourself, so make it say what you do and where.
Published · Updated
Your description shows in the "From the business" section of your Google Business Profile. You write it. It is plain text about what you do and where, on a profile Google shows in Search and Maps.
What Google's help page says
- Do not exceed 750 characters.
- Do not include URLs or HTML code.
- Focus on details about your business, not promotions, prices, or sales.
Google also says it reviews your changes before they go live on the profile.
How I would write it
- Say what you do in the first sentence.
- Name the area you serve, like Kansas City, MO or your side of town.
- Mention your main services in plain words.
- Skip links and sale prices.
- Reread it when your services change.
Keep it matching your website and the services you list on the profile. That way anything reading your listing, a person or an AI assistant, gets the same facts.
One honest note: a good description cannot promise any placement or any mention in an AI answer. Nobody can. It keeps your facts straight, and that is the job.
