Fill in the services on your Google Business Profile

Your Business Profile services list is one of the places AI assistants can read about what you do, so fill it in with plain words.

When a customer asks an AI assistant who to call, the answer has to come from somewhere. Assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity search the web and pull from what they find there, including your Google Business Profile, your reviews and your own website. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode use the same fundamentals as regular search, including an up to date Business Profile.

What Google's help page says

Google says businesses in certain categories, like service businesses, might have the option to list services on their profile. Go to your Business Profile and select Edit services. Google suggests services based on your business type, and if yours is not listed, you can add a custom service. You can add a description to each one, and you can select Delete service to remove one.

How I would fill it in

  • List the real services a customer would ask for by name.
  • Describe each one in a sentence a customer would understand.
  • Match the wording on your own website services pages.
  • Remove services you no longer offer.

This is one piece. Nobody can promise what an assistant will say. See the Google Business Profile work I do, or start with the free Map Pack Check on the home page.
