Give every important page its own meta description
Each important page on your website should have its own short, plain summary of what that page offers, and Google's snippet guidance explains why.
Published · Updated
A meta description is a short summary of a page, kept in the page code. Google says it primarily uses the content on the page to pick the snippet in search results. It sometimes uses the meta description when that gives a more accurate description than text taken from the page.
Google also says identical or similar descriptions on every page are not helpful. It asks for descriptions that accurately describe each specific page. If time is short, start with your home page and popular pages.
Why it matters for AI answers
AI assistants can only describe your business from what is public. A plain summary on each page is one more clear statement of what you do and where. I can't promise it gets you a snippet, a placement, or a mention in any AI answer. Google may write its own snippet from the page.
What I would do this week
- List your main pages: home, each service, contact.
- For each one, write one or two plain sentences: the service, who it is for, and the area you serve.
- Do not copy the same description across pages.
- Make it agree with the page title and the main heading.
