One business, one Google Business Profile

Google allows one Business Profile per business, and a profile treated as a duplicate won't show on Search or Maps.

Google says you can have only one Business Profile for each business. Multiple profiles may mislead customers and are against its policies. A profile considered a duplicate won't show on Google Search or Maps.

Find out what you have

Search Google Maps for your business name, then your old addresses and old phone numbers.

If you find a second listing, work out which case it is first:

  • Someone else owns a verified profile: request access. They have 3 days to respond. A denial can be appealed. No response may let you claim it, though that option isn't always available.
  • On Maps but unverified: claim and verify it.
  • Two profiles for one business: report a merge suggestion on Google Maps. Every merge request is subject to review.

Two distinct businesses at one address can each have a profile, with different names and clearly visible signage.

Do not create a new profile to get around a problem. Fix the one you have.

AI answers and maps can draw on public business facts. Two conflicting listings for one business give mixed facts. I can't promise any placement or mention.

I check for duplicates and old addresses first on any listing I start. See my Google Business Profile work.
