Set your Thanksgiving hours on Google now

Thanksgiving is about a month away, and now is a good time to put your holiday hours on your Google listing.

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26. If you close early, close all day, or run odd hours that Friday, tell Google now. Do not wait until the night before.

Google Business Profile has a setting for this called special hours. Google says you can use it when your business temporarily adjusts its hours or stays closed for up to 6 days in a row. Your regular weekly hours stay the same.

How to set them

  1. Go to your Business Profile.
  2. Select Edit profile, then Hours.
  3. Find special hours, add the date, and enter your hours or mark the day closed.

Keeping your normal hours on the holiday? Confirm them anyway. Google suggests confirming hours for official holidays even when they match your regular hours, so customers can see they are accurate.

Why it matters

Wrong hours waste a customer's trip or call. Someone drives across the metro to a locked door, or calls a phone nobody answers. Accurate hours help that customer. I do not treat them as a ranking tactic.

While you are in there, add Christmas Eve and New Year's Day too. Hours are part of every listing I work on. Want me to look at yours? Start with the free Google Listing Check.
